well done. very provocative and notably insightful. i am a really big fan of these progressive theories, especially the ones that propose God is some sort of collective super-conciousness, or the fully realized actualization of human potential... "I am He, as You are He, as you are me, and WE are all together" qooqooqachoo!

if you haven't read The God Theory yet, check it out. you'll like it. ( http://www.thegodtheory.com/ )

also, i cant remember what it was in particular, but it rememinded me specifically of this book, The Bodily Dimension in Thinking.
check out the couple pages they have up on google...

This is really beautiful. It is so amazing to see a respectful and thoughtful opening of tradition like this :)

I'd love to hear more thoughts if/when you have them.

I was reminded this weekend that we've got Torah we can quote too, so as much as I hate doing the back and forth on it, I'm gonna have to do it, because even though I know it won't change Elijah's mind, it's important at least for others reading this site to know that there are other verses out there, and, well, the practice of <a href="http://www.svara.org rel="nofollow">svara</a> in the tradition, such as:

"Lev Yodaya Morat Naofsho" -- The heart knows the bitterness of one's soul from Proverbs 14:10. Meaning, we listen to the individual about what an avera is because one knows what is best for them.

"Human dignity trumps all laven (don't do's)" - Leviticus 18:5

Who is this that darkenes counsel by words without knowledge? Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding. Surely you must know! - Job 38

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
