Yes, it’s true. I imagine some of you have already seen Mobius’s post on Jewschool that he is leaving Jewschool, and ending his work in hosting and designing sites for the progressive Jewish community. I received the email a few weeks ago letting me know he was ending his work, but I didn’t know he was going on to work at the JTA as the Director of New Media. You can read more Dan about why this life change on his blog, Orthodox Anarchist.
What I do know and remember is one morning after I brought Dan on Beyond the Pale and we rode back into Brooklyn on the subway, talking about the challenge he was facing in bringing in the voices and experiences of people like me on Jew School. That when he tried, they often left quickly because of the way in which people were slammed on the site. This was when the idea of JVoices was born.
So, a big thanks to Dan for helping to set up this small corner of the world called JVoices which has become it’s own stage of reckoning in plotting out new unearthings and insights into Jewish life. We thank you.
We will be moving on to new web hosting, and thus will be looking for new volunteers who love web hosting and are still looking for folks to help with design work. Don’t be shy to show, and share with us, your talent in web design if you got it! We need it!
