I am terrified for the future of Judaism, because of how little awareness I see of this. The degree to which we have been blinded by our own zealousness.

I posted a far less coherent (or punctuated, or capitalized) rant/plea/frustrated diatribe trying to articulate much of what you’ve said here. I was actually terrified of the responses I’d receive, and with only one or two exceptions, it’s been greeted with appreciation (it’s posted on my linked blog, but also on facebook, which is where most of the commentary came from). And it is that, the reminder that there is a community of us who sense this misdirection, that keeps my hope alive.
